Buck Brook Alpacas is a family-run farm started in 2013. The farm was started for several reasons, but the main one was our love of animals. Through mentoring at Nature's Reserve Alpacas, our family fell in love with the gentle, curious, and beautiful alpaca. At about the same time, we came across the opportunity to purchase a piece of property at one of the highest peaks in Sullivan County. The farm, home to the Bestenheider family for over a hundred years, was picturesque and serene. A perfect place to raise alpacas.
Alpaca fiber is a high quality luxury fiber, comparable to cashmere. It is warm, lightweight, hypoallergenic and water resistant. We produce as much of our yarn as possible at local mills in Sullivan County and New York State. We offer fine quality products such as blankets, rugs, hats, scarves and many other accessories at our farm store. We also have our products available in our online store as well. Alpacas and the alpaca fiber industry is an industry we believe in. We strive to keep our animals clean healthy and happy with the end result of producing award winning luxurious fiber.
It was our intention to simply raise several fiber animals and produce our own products, until we went to our first alpaca show. Alpaca shows are exciting, competitive, and fun. We involve our whole family in the process from showmanship to performance and obstacle. We now breed our alpacas to win in the show ring and produce outstanding luxury fiber.
